American Fashion Label A.L.C. Lands in Asia

By Marane A. Plaza

How do you like it if your wardrobe staples were designed by the fashion stylist of Hollywood A-list’s such as Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Estafani?

That’s pretty much what you will get from American label A.L.C., which has now officially landed in Asia, and in the Philippines first— through the country’s high-life store Rustan’s.

Founded by celebrity stylist Andrea Lieberman in 2009, A.L.C. has been loved by global fashionistas for its effortless style fusion of “New York grit with Los Angeles ease.”

From New York and LA to Manila

According to reports, Lieberman sought polished, body-complementing, sleek fashion pieces that can fit into her carry-on’s so she could style her celebrity clients with ease while her musician-clients were touring.

Frustrated that she struggled to find what she needed in the market at the time, Andrea decided to design the pieces herself — thus, the birth of A.L.C., which stands for Andrea Lieberman Collection.

Nikki Huang, business development head of Stores Specialists Incorporated Group (SSI Group) and Filipina lifestyle influencer herself, became a fan of the brand that she herself has spearheaded the move to bring the brand in Asia, sharing her experience in an exclusive interview with STYLISH Magazine during the A.L.C.’s Asian launch in Rustan’s Makati recently.

“I am a super fan of A.L.C., and the brand has become a staple in my wardrobe! I discovered A.L.C. when I was going to school in the East Coast for college. Every time I would go back to New York, I would shop from them, and they quickly became such a staple in my wardrobe. So anything from basics to full occasion wear, like what (Stylish Magazine correspondent) Janeena is wearing. And I absolutely fell in love with the brand because of just how versatile it is. And it was the type of thing that I couldn’t believe that everywhere I would go wearing ALC, people would ask me where it was from. And so, of course, in my head, I was like, I need more!”

A.L.C. truly equips stylish women for every facet of life. The brand takes pride in blending New York edge with Los Angeles ease, making this women’s ready-to-wear line distinctive for its luxurious quality, meticulous attention to detail, and confident silhouettes.

“I was always travelling (a lot), and I found that the pieces held up really well. We were just talking about it, we didn’t have to steam our outfits. It’s like magic. So I love that so much,” Nikki added during her interview with STYLISH Magazine correspondent Janeena Chan.

“I thought it made it really valuable to the Philippines. And obviously, I was shopping repeatedly with the team in the app store (where A.L.C. was available), and I got into conversation with them (the brand),” she said.

“They asked me what I did. I told them about the family business and SSI Group. And then eventually, ‘I said, hey, what do you think about Asia?’ And they were like, ‘We’re not in Asia yet’. And I said, ‘Do you want to be have the first (store in Asia) with us?’ And so I’m really grateful for the trust. From what I understand, we’re the first A.L.C store In Asia,” Nikki shared with STYLISH Magazine team.

“And so I’m just super proud that they believed in us enough to come here, and then seeing all my friends try the clothes and love them, it makes me super happy!”
