Babyface and Patti Austin Live in Manila

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

“Whip Appeal,” “Every Time I Close My Eyes,” “End of the Road”, if you know these songs, then you have to know that October 27, 2025 is about to be unforgettable. Manila, get ready: the legendary Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds is bringing his timeless R&B magic to the SM Mall of Asia Arena, with none other than the equally iconic Patti Austin joining him as a special guest.

Babyface isn’t just any performer, he’s a 13-time GRAMMY Award winner and the only producer to win “Producer of the Year” four times, three of those in a row. He’s the genius behind the soundtrack of the 90s and 2000s, co-founding LaFace Records (yup, the same label that gave us Usher, Toni Braxton, TLC, Outkast, and P!nk). To borrow his own words, Manila is about to see him “give good love” live on stage.

Over his career, Babyface has written and produced for just about everyone: Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men, Eric Clapton, Madonna, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Janet Jackson, and so many more. His pen and production have shaped entire eras of music. If you’ve ever belted out “I’ll Make Love to You” or swayed to “Take a Bow,” chances are Babyface was the man behind the music.

Sharing the spotlight is the soulful Patti Austin, whose career spans duets, chart-toppers, and timeless ballads. From her #1 hit with James Ingram, “Baby, Come to Me,” to her heartfelt classics like “Say You Love Me” and “How Do You Keep the Music Playing,” Patti’s voice is a soundtrack of love stories across generations. Filipinos especially hold her music close, proving that sometimes all you need is a song to “make it last forever.”

This back-to-back concert is presented by Ovation Productions with Blast TV as the official media partner. Tickets are now available at SM Tickets outlets and smtickets.com, priced from PHP 2,580 to PHP 8,880.

Don’t sleep on this one, Manila. Two icons. One stage. A night of nothing but classics. As Babyface once wrote, “Soon as I get home… I’ll make it up to you”, and trust us, this concert is definitely worth coming home to.
