Filipina actress Maris Racal has finally participated in a red carpet film fest event of her well-received film “Sunshine” — as she attended the Berlin International Film Festival, also known as the prestigious Berlinale.

In September, Maris told STYLISH during a beauty event that she won’t be able to join the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) red carpet event due to prior commitments. “Sunshine” was also recognized at the TIFF last year.

For this year’s Berlinale, Maris rocked a stunning, flowy dress in color lime green, with neckline reminiscent of the Philippines’ national flower: sampaguita.

The actress’ dress was actually from the Jot Losa “Pangako” runway collection. The Look 54 was one of the creations showcased at the designer’s anniversary fashion show produced by San Juan City in December last year.

The fashion designer described his “Pangako” collection as a homage to his childhood in San Juan, one filled with memories of his grandmother’s garden and the scent of sampaguita flowers.

The fashion choice by Maris’ stylist, Adrianne Concepcion, was apt for the red carpet soiree as the Filipino-produced film is carrying the Philippine flag at the Berlinale.

Playing the titular role in the independent sports drama film, the “Perpektong Tao” singer is Sunshine, a gymnast who gets pregnant amidst her preparation for an important competition.

The film is competing for the festival’s Generation 14plus category, which highlights stories focused on young audiences.
