Beyoncé gave fans another reason to celebrate the Fourth of July with the surprise release of her new single, “MORNING DEW (DONK),” marking her first new song in two years.

More than just a holiday gift, the track officially kicks off a 60-day countdown to the 20th anniversary reissue of B’DAY, the landmark album originally released on September 4, 2006, the singer’s 25th birthday. The reissue will coincide with both the album’s milestone anniversary and Beyoncé’s upcoming birthday celebration.
Written by Beyoncé alongside Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams, “MORNING DEW (DONK)” serves as a tribute to the artist’s devoted BeyHive while ushering in a new chapter for one of the most influential albums of the 2000s.
The release also arrives with a lyric video directed by longtime collaborator Cliff Watts, who revisits archival footage that reflects the era surrounding B’DAY. Watts famously photographed Beyoncé’s iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover around the time the album was first released, creating a nostalgic visual companion to the new track.

Originally released in September 2006, B’DAY debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 541,000 copies in its first week in the United States. The album also topped charts around the world, including Japan, becoming one of the defining pop and R&B releases of its era.
With “MORNING DEW (DONK),” Beyoncé isn’t simply releasing a new song, she’s inviting fans to revisit one of the defining eras of her career while building anticipation for the return of an album that helped shape modern pop and R&B. As the 20th anniversary of B’DAY approaches, the countdown has officially begun.
