Layering more than one blush might sound heavy on the face at first, but, like most beauty trends, you have to trust the process. The method, known as blush stacking, is simple—it’s the stacking or layering of your blushes in different formulas to boost color payoff, add dimension and promote longer wear.
The viral hack speaks for itself with high pigment payoff and longer staying power. If you’ve been collecting makeup products over the years like the rest of us, you certainly have a few blush formulas in your makeup drawer begging to be worn.
How to blush stack
Blush stacking involves layering different blush textures to achieve a longer-lasting, more natural, and three-dimensional result. Here’s how it’s done.
- Start with a cream or liquid blush, blending it well with your fingers or a sponge: this creates the base and gives that healthy, luminous glow. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks, even swiping higher up along the cheekbones.
- Layer a complementary tone using a different formula, such as a stain or a cream-to-powder hybrid. Dab it only where you want to intensify the color a bit, without disturbing the base underneath.
- Finally, lock everything in with a powder blush. Start at the point where you prefer the most intense color, then use a fluffy brush to diffuse outward.
