Cardi B is making her long-awaited return with a power-packed sophomore album titled Am I the Drama?, arriving this Friday, and she’s bringing some major names along for the ride.
The rapper revealed the project’s stacked lineup through massive Spotify billboards in Los Angeles and Miami, as well as on her social media. The record features an eclectic mix of collaborators, including Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez, Lizzo, Summer Walker, Kehlani, Cash Cobain, Tyla, and Megan Thee Stallion. The announcement comes just days before the album officially hits streaming platforms and stores.
Cardi has been building anticipation for months, releasing singles like “Outside” and “Imaginary Playerz,” the latter sampling Jay-Z’s 1997 classic “Imaginary Players.” Over the weekend, she surprised fans with a pop-up event in New York City that drew massive crowds. To celebrate the release, she’s also hosting in-store meet-and-greets in Cypress, Easton, Riverdale, and Long Beach this week.
In a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Cardi explained why she felt ready to finally follow up her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy. “I feel because it was completed, it was completely completed,” she said. “I was like, this is what was missing out there. I feel like I touched on everything I wanted to touch, and I was like, I’m done. I can’t possibly fit no more.”
She also teased that a tour is in the works, sharing that she’s already training at the gym and taking dance classes to prepare for hitting the stage. The new album marks her first full-length release in seven years, setting the stage for one of her biggest musical eras yet.
