Similar to skincare, caring for your hair is also seasonal and should be treated as such. Especially during the rainy season when frizz, mild hairfall and dandruff can be a little bit of a hassle.
Increased levels of humidity in the air and rainwater can wreak havoc on the hair. This is why a hair routine must also be followed during rainy days to help keep the frizz at bay.
Take a rain check from frizzy hair with these tips.
Dry your hair thoroughly
Although the purest form of water, rainwater interacts with the pollution and becomes acidic. With that, hairstylist Patty Cristobal recommends, “Drying your hair on a rainy weather can be challenging so make sure not to leave your hair in a damp state for extended periods to avoid fungal infections and dandruff.”
Opt for simple updos
If you still want to style your hair before going out on a rainy day, choosing a simple updo is your best bet. They will help protect the length of your hair and last the whole day. Keeping it as sleek and smooth as possible is best to prevent any flyaway strands.
Be wary of the heat
Most of us know that heat-styling isn’t ideal during this season but it is quintessential for that stylish look. So, if you really need to do it, do not forget a heat protection spray or argan oil.
Trust in hair masks
One of the effects of rainy days on your hair is that it will absorb more moisture because of the wet air. And with this excess moisture in your hair comes the swelling of your strands which cause flyaways. To counteract this, a hair mask is the best way to condition your hair, or a leave-in product can be a good option, too.
