Fast Lane Fashion with Tommy Hilfiger and F1® The Movie

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

Tommy Hilfiger fuels the connection between fashion, motorsport, and cinematic storytelling with the launch of The APXGP Collection, created in collaboration with F1® The Movie.

It started as a whisper. Rumors of a Brad Pitt-led Formula 1™ film that would bring the full-throttle energy of the track to the big screen. But it wasn’t until Met Gala night that the world saw it come to life. Damson Idris, the breakout star of the film and a TOMMY HILFIGER brand ambassador, arrived on the carpet in a full APXGP race car, dressed head to toe in Tommy Hilfiger. That was the moment the engine started.

Now, that momentum comes to life in The APXGP Collection, a high-powered fusion of race-day grit and signature Hilfiger prep. This limited-edition capsule is fashion in motion, crafted for a generation drawn to speed, storytelling, and effortless self-expression.

Damson Idris leads the campaign with the same magnetism he brings to the screen. The pieces reflect both his character’s edge and his personal style, designed to hold their own under stadium lights, flashing cameras, and city streets alike.

“Working with the Tommy Hilfiger team and on F1® The Movie has been an unforgettable ride — an authentic blend of iconic style and cinematic power,” says Idris.

“Tommy’s vision has always been about pushing culture forward, and that energy runs through every part of this partnership. From The APXGP Collection and everything we’ve done to bring the film to life for audiences, it all channels that same fearless spirit — capturing the grit to succeed on the track and the confidence to own every moment of it.”

The collection includes moto-emblazoned mechanic shirts, tailored Japanese denim, varsity-style vegan leather jackets, and a standout red quilted jacket inspired by the one worn by Idris’ character, Joshua Pearce, in the film. It’s a wardrobe designed to move—bridging costume and closet, trackside and streetwear.

“Since I was a kid peeking through the fences at Watkins Glen racetrack, Formula 1™ has been legendary to me,” says Tommy Hilfiger.

“As F1® has opened its doors to new worlds like entertainment and fashion, the sport has become a cultural phenomenon. Building on almost 40 years of infusing the colors, logos, and spirit of motorsport into our collections, we’re thrilled to join Hollywood at the racetrack by partnering with F1® The Movie. This film captures the cultural shift, setting a benchmark in what we call ‘fashiontainment,’ where the future is being shaped. It’s a bold new chapter, and we’re setting the pace for what comes next.”

This moment marks a natural evolution for Hilfiger, a brand long defined by its place at the intersection of fashion and sport. What began as childhood fascination grew into decades of design influence, from partnering with racing teams in the 1990s to introducing motorsport codes into ready-to-wear collections.

Now, as the official fashion sponsor of F1® The Movie’s fictional APXGP team—led by Idris’ Joshua Pearce and Brad Pitt’s Sonny Hayes—TOMMY HILFIGER becomes part of the sport’s cultural lore.

The launch comes as “motorcore,” the speed-fueled style trend, continues to take over runways and reels. With The APXGP Collection, Hilfiger doesn’t just follow the trend. He helps define it.
