An artist’s anniversary can often turn into an ode to his roots and his humble beginnings, often budding from a promise of committing brilliance to oneself. Titled “Pangako” or Promise, the new collection of Filipino fashion designer Jot Losa is indeed a rumination of his entire journey as a design visionary– from his local origin in his beloved hometown San Juan City to the global sensibilities of his creations.

The runway showcase was unveiled in San Juan City Hall recently in celebration of his 15th year in the fashion design industry. The affair was indeed a promise of homecoming.

Jot Losa‘s new runway masterpieces were meant to weave together a narrative that reflects the genesis of his childhood while embracing the vibrancy of the future.

Staying true to his design philosophy, Jot introduced creations exuding “exquisite simplicity with a modern yet timeless aesthetic matched with refined craftsmanship.”

“This collection is an intimate reflection of my childhood memories spent at my grandmother’s home—I still distinctly remember the fragrance of Sampaguita flowers and the sight of elegant lace curtains and vintage heirlooms,” the designer shared. “Each piece in the collection is an homage to that space-turned-memory—an ode to the floral patterns hand-stitched by my grandmother and to the timeless beauty that exists in things passed down through generations.”

For this runway collection, Jot chose a theme inspired by the Sampaguita flower, “a delicate product of nature that, even in its freshest form, carries a subtle depth of nostalgia.” Jot recalled rummaging through a wooden armoire in his grandmother’s home, finding similar treasures made by generations before. This collection was his way of adding to the treasures that defined his childhood.

Whites, neutrals and earthy mid-tones were dominant, some with soft florals in lime greens that evoke the lush foliage of his childhood backyard.

The pieces in classic taupe and blush pink explicitly emanated feminine elegance.

Others were accentuated with denim blues for a more modern coolness injected into classic looks.

Minuscule Sampaguita appliqués adorned key pieces throughout the collection, from sheer dresses to the side seams of denim bell bottoms.

The collection aimed to explore a balance between weight and airiness, blending the lightness of sheer fabrics with feathers, fringe, and 3D necklines, alongside the structure of more substantial materials like denim.

Although Jot’s aesthetic has always embraced a feminine, romantic style, Pangako marks an evolution of the brand for today’s woman—a nod to classic beauty with a contemporary presence. Each piece in the collection honors its history, yet speaks to a new generation of women who appreciate the balance of elegance and modernity.

“One of the most significant challenges this time was ensuring that the designs authentically reflected the essence of my journey while also innovating for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. Striking that balance between honoring the past 15 years and pushing the boundaries of what’s next was a delicate and deeply personal process,” the designer mused.

To overcome these challenges, Jot leaned into the power of storytelling by revisiting archives, reflecting on key moments, themes, and techniques that have defined his brand, and then reimagining them with a modern twist.

The “Pangako” runway show was also a tribute to his hometown San Juan City, which was why he decided to showcase his anniversary collection at the San Juan City Hall.

“I grew up in San Juan, where my career also began. Every time I visit the city hall to pay taxes, I can’t help but admire its structure and the simplicity of its white interiors—it feels like the perfect blank canvas. I always dreamed of holding my first solo show here, and now that dream is coming true.”

Looking ahead, Jot envisions his brand expanding beyond the Philippines, establishing a stronger international presence in the next 15 years. “The goal is to bring the spirit and craftsmanship of the brand to a wider audience while showcasing Filipino creativity on a global stage,” he concluded.
