If you grew up in the mid-2000s, chances are you had a plastic singing Hannah Montana doll stashed in your toy box. You’d press a button on her back, and a tinny, robotic voice would blast “Best of Both Worlds” until the batteries died.

Twenty years later, Miley Cyrus is officially getting the Barbie treatment again—but this time, the blonde wig is nowhere to be found.
Mattel just dropped the Barbie Signature Miley Cyrus Doll, and it is a glorious, edgy, leather-clad reality check on just how far the pop icon has come. Dressed in a meticulous miniature recreation of the custom black leather Alaïa ensemble from her Golden Burning Sun music video, this isn’t a toy meant for the sandbox. It’s a premium, high-fashion collectible meant for the adults who grew up alongside her.
The Evolution of a Pop Chameleon
What makes this release so incredibly satisfying is the sheer contrast of it all. Barbie has historically been the blueprint for traditional, pristine Americana. Miley Cyrus, on the other hand, spent the last decade tearing down blueprint after blueprint to build herself from scratch.
Seeing her immortalized by Mattel in raw, rock-and-roll leather—complete with her signature sunglasses, bold pointed heels, and that unmistakable, defiant attitude—feels like the ultimate validation of her career. It proves that she didn’t have to stay inside the Disney box to earn her crown; she earned it by entirely breaking out of it.
Why Gen Z and Millennials are Obsessed
For the generation currently fueling the “kidult” toy boom, this doll is pure, concentrated nostalgia with an adult upgrade. We watched Miley struggle through the growing pains of public scrutiny, the Bangerz era whiplash, and her eventual evolution into a Grammy-winning rock goddess.

When Miley took to social media to call the doll a “lifelong dream,” it resonated because her audience has been on that lifelong journey with her. Buying this Barbie isn’t just about owning a piece of music merch. It’s about celebrating a woman who refused to let anyone else write her script.
“We spent a lot of time perfecting her—not to make her perfect, because that wouldn’t feel representative of me, but to really capture the essence of this look.” – Miley Cyrus
The blonde pop-star wig might be retired for good, but twenty years later, Miley Cyrus proved she really did get the best of both worlds—on her own terms.
