We wanted to have a Filipino-founded home fragrance and perfumery brand that is at par with international offerings, but at much friendlier price points,” Terry De Guia Tuason, founder of Marcel Philippe, shared with STYLISH in an interview.



Having been presented in Paris, France and Milan, Italy by Kapitolyo ng Laguna and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Marcel Philippe has always exuded global competitiveness and upscale quality that can cater to those with discriminating tastes.
“We started with ten personal perfume scents and six home fragrances during our product development in 2021, and various bazaars in 2022. We did a shotgun and test approach during our first years to see what the Filipino market likes. Then by October 2023, we started to learn what are our best-sellers which we made available in SM Department Stores, like SM Sta. Rosa in Laguna. Now, we are in five SM Malls, including SM North,” she added.


Having been exposed to the personal care manufacturing business of her family since forever, Terry has been exposed to understanding what the Philippine market wants when it comes to perfumes, shampoos and bar soaps.
She then noticed that Filipinos are naturally amazing gifters, which led her to pivot her fragrance line to more of a holiday gifting company.
“What I love most about us Filipinos is that we really love each other. I notice, most Filipinos may not spend as much on themselves. But when it comes to gifts, they really splurge! We put a lot of thought into our holiday gifts, and we’ve noticed how Marcel Philippe has become that gift idea company that Filipino clients can come to and depend on.”
According to Terry, Filipinos love fruity and floral fragrances for personal use, as well as perfumes with vanilla notes.
“For personal perfumes, the fruity and floral ones like our Hera are best-selling,” she said. “Those with vanilla notes, like our Zephyr, are also Filipino faves.”
“For home ambience, Filipinos love a mild yet relaxing and posh fragrance, so our Fresh Bamboo and Green Tea are doing really well.”
Having interior design as her educational background and initial profession, Terry has always had passion for beaty, art and home design and ambience.
“I love elevating the home ambience, and a home fragrance is always a good idea. I’ve also loved design. That’s why you can see in our packaging box that we are so into great aesthetics. I want our products to be a multisensory treat and an overall nice consumer experience.”



She also shared why her clients support luxe fragrance line Marcell Philippe.
“Filipinos are becoming more and more intelligent consumers. They love investing in Filipino brands, because they know they are supporting the community while elevating our lifestyles,” she said.
