The weather in our country is unpredictable–changing from long dry periods and short spells of rain. Either way, the heavy rains, soaring temperatures and increasing humidity can wreak havoc on the skin, causing infections, acne and clogged pores.
While you may think that your normal skincare routine will still work during this season, well, not this time. You need to upgrade your skincare routine to combat the unforgiving weather.
Damp skin is prevalent during the rainy season. It attracts microbes which are harmful to your skin and can also bring irritation and rashes. Fortunately, there are ways to prepare your skin for rainy days or when you’re feeling under the weather.
Follow gentle cleansing
To achieve a gorgeous skin during the rainy season, gentle cleansing is key. We recommend using a soap-free cleanser that removes dirt, grime and impurities without stripping the skin. This ensures that your skin stays hydrated and balanced.

Exfoliate regularly
Exfoliation is a skincare process that involves the removal of dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. It is an essential step as it helps to unclog pores, promote skin cell turnover, and reveal a fresher, smoother complexion.
Regular exfoliation can also help increase collagen production. We suggest incorporating this step 2-3 times a week. By removing dead skin cells, you pave the way for better absorption of nourishing products and reveal fresher, smoother skin.
Use a toner
Include a toner in your makeup kit. It helps restore the skin’s pH balance, tighten pores, and prepare the skin for the next step of your routine. We recommend a toner infused with natural ingredients like witch hazel and rose water to soothe your skin.

Never skip sunscreen
Regardless of the weather, sun protection is crucial. We advice using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to shield your skin from UV rays. Even on cloudy days, the sun’s rays can cause damage, so always remember to apply sunscreen before stepping out.
Opt for light makeup
Your makeup should be light during the monsoon. Heavy makeup will sit in the pores, resulting in clogged pores. Light, non-comedogenic products will help your skin breathe. A lightweight non-greasy moisturizer, a little concealer, and just a swipe of mascara and lipstick will do the trick.
