LFW SS26: Burberry Brings Festival Fashion to the Runway

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

At London Fashion Week, Burberry transformed Kensington Palace Gardens into a scene that felt more like a music festival than a traditional runway show. A Black Sabbath soundtrack set the mood as models walked across a sand-covered floor, echoing the energy of Britain’s legendary outdoor gigs.

Creative director Daniel Lee leaned into the crossover between music and fashion with a collection that played up crochet, fringe, metallic finishes, and bold hits of acid green, yellow, and pink. Trench coats, Burberry’s signature piece, appeared reimagined in snakeskin and tarot prints, while the house check showed up on chainmail dresses in silver, pink, and neon green. The result was a mash-up of heritage and counterculture, designed for a new generation that sees festivals as cultural stages as much as musical ones.

That influence wasn’t accidental. Burberry has been weaving music into its storytelling under CEO Joshua Schulman, casting British icons from Liam Gallagher to hip hop artist Loyle Carner in its campaigns. This season felt like a continuation of that approach, showing how sound and style can move together.

The collection also tapped into the global conversation around festival fashion. Just as Coachella has become known for crochet sets, cowboy boots, and glitter makeup, Burberry mirrored that same playful spirit through a distinctly British lens. Think Glastonbury meets Coachella, but with a luxury spin.

It was less about spectacle and more about energy, the feeling of being at a show where the clothes, the music, and the crowd are all part of one experience. Burberry captured that atmosphere and turned it into a collection that felt both rooted in tradition and alive with modern culture.
