Forget everything you once knew with lip glosses. Unlike the goopy textures of the past, modern formulas are a lot more comfortable to wear. Still, they combine the juicy-looking finish popular from the 2000s, but this time with a non sticky feel and impressive pigments. Plus, they pair well with just about every lip product–just one layer of lip gloss on top of a balm, liner, or lipstick will give you a more glam look.
No shade to your favorite matte lipstick, but some formulas even stay put for long hours. Bottom line: you’re going to want one for your purse, work, desk and anywhere else you can think of. Here are some of our favorites.
Colourette’s Jelly Kiss
There are so many things to love about Colourette’s Jelly Kiss, starting with the vast shade range. We’re impressed with the gorgeous color payoff, which went off surprisingly juicy and high-shine, and it stayed vibrant for about two hours before fading to a soft, glowy tint.
Aela’s JOOCYEE Glazed Lipgloss
As the name suggests, this lipgloss delivers a glass-like sheen and comes in six pretty shades, 2-in-1 applicator for precise lip shaping or a more blended lip look. It’s also moisturizing and doesn’t feel sticky, which is a bonus.
Absidy’s Glazing Serum Lip Stain
This beloved serum lip stain is not exactly a lip gloss, but works like one. It is formulated to “combine the staining power of a lip tint with the added shine and moisture of a lip oil.” We can vouch for its hydrating effects; the lightweight, nourishing formula left our lips velvety and moisturized after one swipe.
