Your jewelry isn’t just a part of your look—it’s part of your story. Whether it’s your everyday bracelet, favorite gold necklace, or a delicate silver ring, each piece deserves the care and attention it needs to last a lifetime.
But let’s be honest—life gets busy. Our jewelry can end up in a tangled pile, worn to bed, or exposed to everything from hand lotion to harsh cleaners. Over time, that “just bought” luster starts to fade.
The good news? With just a few simple tips, you can protect your jewelry and keep it looking fresh, clean, and brilliant.
Keep your jewelry clean and dry
Regular cleaning helps remove the buildup that dulls your jewelry—but it’s important to do it right. You can clean your jewelry using a cleaning solution made from water containing a few drops of mild dish soap or baby shampoo.
Soak the jewels in your cleaning solution for 15-20 minutes and gently scrub with a soft cloth, a soft-bristled toothbrush or a clean small makeup brush.
Don’t forget to rinse the jewellery thoroughly under running water to remove any soap residue, and pat dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using paper towels or tissues, as these scratch the surface of the gold. Always use a lint-free cloth to clean, and pat dry your jewelry.

Store your jewelry properly
According to one of Metro Manila’s most beloved jewelry brands, Solasta, “Storage is important! Our team loves to go for jewelry acrylics, several spaces to put our non-tarnish jewelry. This is great to maintain the quality and the color of any jewelry piece and to keep your vanity space neat and organized. Quick to spot the jewelry as well when you’re on the go!”

Remove before washing your hands
Soaps and shampoos may seem harmless, but they leave residue that builds up over time. And water—especially chlorinated or salty—can weaken metal over time.
Avoid contact with lotion or perfume
Precious metals, colored gems, and pearls are very sensitive to chemicals–and that can include even the products you put on your skin. If you’re applying perfume, make sure to do so before putting on your jewelry rather than spritzing afterwards. The same goes for any sort of makeup setting spray, lotion, or skin refreshing spray.
