New Weave Collection Makes a Comeback for Karimadon’s 45th Anniversary

By Marane Plaza

Homegrown Filipino fashion brand Karimadon is celebrating its 45th anniversary, with the official launch of its bespoke services through Karimadon Custom Atelier, and the second year comeback of New Weave Collection by Karimadon.

Karimadon has been a part of the fashion sense of the Filipina woman in every stage of her life the past 45 years, as it has become the go-to store of teenage girls looking for prom dresses, lady bosses and corporate ladies eyeing for power looks, as well as moms and aunts shopping for formal dresses for weddings and special occasions.

Its humble store in Virra Mall, Greenhills in 1980 founded by husband and wife Richard and Josie Go has now grown into more than 30 outlets across the country. Named after the acronym of the couple’s children, Karimadon has celebrated wonderful milestones through the years, with past ambassadors Bea Alonzo and Marian Rivera, designer collaborations with Eric de los Santos and Rosenthal Tee, a franchise deal starting in Mindanao, and even an international location in Indonesia.

The brand celebrated its anniversary with Casa Karimadon, an interactive event featuring Karimadon’s version of a doll house with designer consultations, dress fittings, and shopping. Fun photo opportunities were given to event guests, with areas showcasing a timeline of Karimadon’s achievements with fab areas curated for social media content.

Filipino Heritage in Fashion

Filipino craftsmanship is once again commemorated by Karimadon with the second drop of the New Weave by Karimadon.

Following the success of last year’s first launch, Karimadon partners with the Malingkat community once again for sartorial creations that give reverence to Filipino culture.

This second collection threads together KARIMADON’s signature over feminine silhouettes with traditional Malingkat weaving. What you will find is a mix of standalone statement looks along with versatile pieces that can be used to style up existing outfits.

Embi Nicolas, head designer of Karimadon, shared in a statement: “The designs are inspired by women empowerment while embracing the timeless elegance of classic Filipina fashion. The weaves symbolize strength, heritage, and the artistry of Filipino women, blending tradition with modern style.”

The collection has drawn suggestions from clientele and their diverse lifestyle, with the line featuring separates like the “Bituin” – a puff sleeve reversible Filipiniana bolero and “Corazon” – a puff sleeves cover up. Either of which can be a styling piece to a formal dress and a casual ensemble. There is also “Kimi” which is an organza cover-up with a removable belt.

“Leona” perfectly demonstrates how classic meets contemporary in this collection. It is a puff sleeve top and pants set with custom abra binakol detail that can be worn as a set or styled separately depending on one’s preference.

A daring remix to the traditional is the “Gabriela” , a one sided terno gown, while the “Maria” updates the Filipiniana with a flounce on the skirt and a custom langkit weave from Marawi City.

Brunches and intimate affairs call for “Marcela” and “Teresa” for those who love how the right dress can make you look instantly put together. Both dresses feature custom langkit weaves and spaghetti straps that make it ideal for layering as well.

“This collection was made for the modern Filipina; confident, empowered, and proud of her roots. We envision women who value culture, style, and purpose wearing these pieces, whether for special occasions or everyday moments that call for elegance with meaning,” Nicolas added.

Custom Design with Karimadon

Casa Karimadon also served as the formal launch event of Karimadon Custom Atelier.

As part of KARIMADON’s anticipation of the next 45 years, Karimadon Custom Atelier offers clients the experience for one-of-a-kind designs.

Beaming with pride that they’ve built a heritage Filipino brand that champions femininity, elegance, and timelessness, Josie Go, president of KARIMADON, shared her thoughts in a press statement.

“We’re happy that lately, Filipino products have been getting more support and attention. We’re looking forward to seeing the local creative market further grow into a world-class industry.”

“We want to stay true to being a legacy brand with great products that people can depend on but we’re excited to enhance and elevate the customer experience through providing custom services and offering a wider selection of complementary products for shopping convenience, plus highlighting more local materials in our next collections.”
