NYFW SS2026: Coach Levels Up for the Next Generation

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

Coach has been riding a wave of love from Gen Z in recent years, and its Spring/Summer 2026 collection proved that the brand knows how to keep that energy alive. Seen all over TikTok, thrift hauls, and “what’s in my bag” videos, Coach has become the rare heritage label that feels just as relevant to a first-time luxury shopper as it does to fashion insiders.

Creative director Stuart Vevers, now over a decade into his tenure, leaned into that dynamic with a collection that balanced nostalgia, playfulness, and a sense of maturity. Set to Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the show felt like an evolution: a New York-tough yet youthful wardrobe for the generation growing into adulthood.

Models stepped out in roomy trousers, plaid skirts, cropped denim jackets, and shredded jeans, paired with sharp leather biker pieces and golden suede touches. The casting and backstage energy, fresh faces in tees and logo tops, sneakers stamped with playful hearts, and students-turned-style icons, underscored how Coach speaks directly to Gen Z. These weren’t distant models in unwearable couture; they looked like people you’d see on the subway or scrolling FYP.

As expected, accessories dominated. Instead of crossbodies, there were mini duffels tucked under arms, oversized clutches, and structured work-sized handbags. Vevers doubled down on the wallet-as-necklace moment, every single look featured coin purses worn long and low, an update already trending across social media. Bags carried a sense of fun and collectibility, from patchwork leather shoulder styles to suede satchels with vintage-inspired kiss-lock frames.

Gen Z doesn’t just buy into Coach because of looks, it’s the whole vibe. The brand has leaned into “accessible luxury,” sustainability with Coachtopia, and the nostalgia wave that makes old-school logos cool again. Pieces here felt like milestones: the kind of bag you’d splurge on for your first real job or the sneakers you’d style every day, all while staying TikTok-worthy.

If the past few years were about proving Coach wasn’t your mom’s bag, SS26 suggested what happens when Gen Z starts growing up with the brand. There’s still whimsy, tiny book charms, logo play, DIY energy, but also polish, structure, and confidence. Coach isn’t just a trend; it’s positioning itself as the go-to label for the next generation of adults.
