NYFW SS2026: Inside Public School’s Comeback

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

They’re back, and they did it in the most New York way possible.

Public School New York made their big comeback at New York Fashion Week, not with a runway show, but with a full-on Club Supper experience that felt like pure New York energy. Held high above the Financial District at Saga, the night kicked off with glasses of Armand de Brignac champagne and a skyline glowing gold at sunset.

The room was bathed in moody red light, the smooth rhythm of a Max Roach quintet weaving through the air as guests mingled in sleek, sharp looks.

Instead of a traditional fashion show, the night unfolded like a secret supper club, a three-part evening of food, music, and laughter. Executive chef Charlie Mitchell served a stunning multi-course dinner, while the Max Roach Estate Quintet filled the space with warm, velvety jazz. Between courses, a magician made cards vanish for Jordan Clarkson and Devin Booker, and Donnell Rawlings wrapped up the night with a quickfire comedy set that had everyone laughing.

The guest list read like a who’s who, Common, Sunisa Lee, Fabolous, and Marisa Tomei among them, all dressed in preview looks from the brand. But as founders Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow reminded everyone, it wasn’t really about the clothes. “We’ve always been tied to New York,” Chow said. “This return is tied hand-in-hand with the city’s return.”

It wasn’t polished or predictable, and that’s what made it unforgettable. It felt less like a fashion show and more like a homecoming, a love letter to the city that shaped them, and the perfect way to say: Public School is officially back.
