Fashion thrives on the unexpected, and Joe Ando-Hirsh reminded everyone of that when Raising Cane’s staged a chicken-finger-inspired runway show at the Standard High Line during New York Fashion Week.

Food-themed fashion stunts have popped up before, Cheetos once sent snack-orange looks down the runway, Panera made baguette purses for Fashion Week regulars, and even McDonald’s had its moment in Stockholm. But where others leaned into gimmick, Ando found the sweet spot between playful novelty and couture craft.

Livvy Dunne floated in a magnolia ballgown referencing Raising Cane’s Louisiana roots, while Olandria Carthen stunned in a dramatic red piece echoing the brand’s signature shade. Brooks Nader shimmered in a gold sequin dress that winked at fried chicken, Camille Kostek charmed in a mascot-inspired yellow look, and Ciara Miller closed the show in a beaded velvet gown meant to evoke chicken fingers dipped in Cane’s sauce, an image that sounds absurd but became surprisingly chic under Ando’s hand.

The front row was as packed as any NYFW headline show. Olympian Suni Lee, the Nader sisters, Bachelor alums, and a wave of influencers including Olivia Ponton and Tinx came through, cameras ready and chicken fingers in hand.

At a time when New York Fashion Week thrives on blending culture, humor, and viral-ready concepts, Joe Ando-Hirsh managed to take a fast-food crossover and give it real fashion credibility. His Raising Cane’s collection proved that inspiration can come from anywhere, especially when the designer has the vision to turn a late-night snack into couture.
