Paris Fashion Week SS26: Hermès Brings Bohemian Freedom to the City Runway

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

Hermès took us south this season, far from Parisian polish and into the wild, sun-drenched charm of France’s Camargue. Known for its salt fields, white horses, and untamed horizon, the region became Nadège Vanhee’s muse for a collection that felt like breathing fresh air after a long city spell.

“I wanted a spirit of freedom, of letting go,” she shared, and that emotion carried through every look that walked the runway.

Imagine leather harnesses reimagined not for control, but for confidence. They wrapped around crisp button-downs, bandeaus, and quilted silk-twill jackets in earthy shades of olive, sand, and rust. It was equestrian energy with a city girl’s polish, the kind you could wear from the stables to Saint-Germain without missing a beat.

The signature Hermès scarf appeared again, this time reinterpreted from an archival print from the ’80s and quilted into bra tops, pencil skirts, and easy shirts that moved with the breeze.

What made it all sing was the warmth of it, the kind of grounded sensuality that Hermès has been slowly leaning into. Skin peeked through subtle cut-outs and supple leathers, a quiet reminder that elegance doesn’t have to hide behind layers. The craftsmanship, as always, spoke softly but confidently: perfectly stitched, expertly quilted, effortlessly timeless.

Before the show, two sisters in head-to-toe Hermès summed it up best: “Security, you can build a wardrobe that never loses its beauty.” They were right. Amid the wild freedom of the south, Vanhee proved that practicality and passion can coexist beautifully.

The standout? A new saddlebag in toasty shades of caramel and clay, a piece made for movement, for travel, for life beyond the runway.

Spring at Hermès wasn’t about escaping reality; it was about living it fully, sunlight, leather, laughter, and all.
