Paris FW SS26: Lanvin Revives Art Deco With Modern Glamour

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

Paris has always had a love affair with the 1920s. The jazz clubs, the champagne-fueled soirées, the glamour of Art Deco design, there’s a reason that decade still feels so alive a hundred years later. At Paris Fashion Week, Lanvin tapped directly into that spirit for its Spring 2026 show, turning nostalgia into something modern and celebratory.

Lanvin, the oldest French couture house still operating, marked the Art Deco centenary with a collection that honored founder Jeanne Lanvin’s archive while looking ahead. Artistic director Peter Copping filled the runway with references to Jeanne’s world, blue hues inspired by her Paris apartments, geometric motifs from her 1920s gowns, and headbands that felt plucked from a Jazz Age photograph.

The clothes themselves carried the elegance of cocktail hours and late-night dancing. Copping sent out low-slung dresses with geometric embroidery, softened by chiffon overlays, and flapper-inspired gowns that revealed slashed sides tied with ribbons. Jackets with puffed shoulders and cropped sweaters came with ribbon detailing at the back, adding both sensuality and playfulness.

Some of the most striking looks were the dramatic skirts: white with black godets cut into exaggerated tiers, swinging with Art Deco rhythm. Trenches were tailored like dresses, with cinched waists and sculptural sleeves, while flapper dresses shimmered with modern polish rather than costume drama. It was a collection that managed to whisper Jazz Age glamour instead of shouting it.

Menswear was less defined, moving from lime green denim to heavy leather coats, with moments that hinted at off-duty dancer ease. It showed promise but still felt like a supporting act beside the women’s lineup.

The atmosphere was joyful, with the set painted in the same vivid blue that Jeanne Lanvin loved, and the audience erupting in applause as Copping took his bow, his shirt and eyes both matching the house’s signature color.

Lanvin’s Spring 2026 was less about quiet luxury and more about civilized celebration. It felt like a party invitation to live a little louder, to rediscover the ease of dancing through life, and to embrace heritage while stepping into something new.
