The Modern and Contemporary Art Festival (MoCAF) closed its doors at the Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, and it is safe to say the local art scene will never look quite the same. Running from July 3 to July 5, 2026, this year’s festival completely shattered the old stereotype that art exhibitions are exclusive, quiet, or intimidating.

Instead, MoCAF 2026 delivered an electric, high-energy weekend that successfully bridged the gap between elite fine art and mainstream pop culture. If you missed out on a ticket this year, here is exactly what went down and why it became the most talked-about creative playground of the season.

1. A High-Octane Blend of Global Perspectives and Homegrown Icons
Walking onto the exhibition floor, the scale of this year’s festival was immediately impressive. With a massive lineup of over 50 local and international galleries, visitors were treated to a global artistic journey. Curated booths from cross-border exhibitors hailing from Spain, Singapore, and Japan offered a front-row seat to international contemporary trends without needing a passport.

However, the true heartbeat of the festival remained fiercely Filipino. The undisputed crown jewel of the event was the exclusive showcase by the legendary Orlina family. Renowned worldwide for their mastery of glass sculpture, the family’s new pieces anchored the venue. The way the gallery lighting interacted with their complex, geometric glass forms drew massive, captivated crowds throughout the entire three-day run.
2. The Great Tabletop Crossover: Art You Can Play
The boldest risk MoCAF 2026 took was also its greatest triumph: proving that fine art belongs in our hands, not just on a wall. In a brilliant collaboration, Fundacion Sansó and The Gaming Library took over a dedicated section of the festival for Board Game Day.

This wasn’t just a casual gaming lounge. The interactive space successfully reframed modern tabletop games as stunning pieces of tactile art. Attendees huddled over beautifully sculpted miniature figures, complex card illustrations, and intricate graphic layouts. Seeing seasoned art collectors playing strategy games alongside Gen-Z digital creators perfectly encapsulated the festival’s community-driven spirit.

MoCAF 2026 went out of its way to turn spectators into creators. The festival featured an expanded, jam-packed schedule of interactive workshops that stayed fully booked all weekend.

The panels didn’t shy away from tough questions. Industry trailblazers and traditional painters debated the rise of artificial intelligence in design, the commercialization of digital art, and how young Filipino artists can sustainably break into the cutthroat global market.
