Say Goodbye To Dark Circles Under Your Eyes With These Tips

By Red Dimaandal-Escamillas

Dark circles under the eyes is a common beauty concern, regardless of your age. And truth be told, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for it.

Dark circles under the eyes can indicate a need for lifestyle changes, such as improvement on sleep routine and diet. In some cases, genetics will overrule even the best under eye cream.

Whether they’re a result of sleep deprivation or a particularly stressful week, tired eyes happen to most of us. The good news? There are several ways and products that can help tackle one of the most common beauty issues.

Assess your diet

A quest to get rid of dark circles under the eyes should always start with a thorough assessment of your diet. While there aren’t any instant dietary fixes, maintaining a nutritious anti-inflammatory diet full of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats can bring about visible skin improvements all over the body–including the eye area.

Sleep better

Not getting enough sleep does not cause dark circles, rather, it exaggerates its appearance. We recommend you to sleep seven to nine hours a night, an ample amount to avoid looking pale and sleepless the following morning. Sleeping on your back with your head slightly elevated will also help to minimize the chance of added puffiness.

Apply sunscreen daily

To avoid hyperpigmentation, daily sunscreen is essential. You should try and reduce exposure to sun. Apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection all the way to the lash line and wear sunglasses.

Shake up your skincare routine

The skincare world is full of various ingredients to help tackle dark circles. Look for ingredients like caffeine, hyaluronic acid, tri-peptides and moisture-locking ceramides. Vitamin C also helps build collagen so there’s separation between the vein and skin, and hyaluronic acid plumps the skin to decrease transparency.
