Few garments command cultural longevity quite like a worn-in pair of relaxed denim. For decades, it has served as the ultimate democratic uniform—unpretentious, enduring, and effortlessly cool. This season, that heritage meets modern street-style alchemy as Gap officially partners with model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber to debut “The Hailey Jean” capsule collection.
Releasing on July 16, 2026, for $89 a pair, the limited-edition drop is a masterclass in organic brand alignment. Long before an official partnership was inked, Bieber routinely made headlines by styling her favorite vintage Gap jeans alongside luxury outerwear and low-key footwear. Now, she has stepped into the design room to co-create the ultimate ’90s denim, infusing her personal DNA directly into the fabric. Every piece pays homage to her birth year, featuring custom “1996” hardware engravings and Bieber’s signature printed subtly inside the pocket linings.

The Architecture of the Fits
The capsule spans six custom-curated washes distributed evenly across two distinct, ’90s-inspired silhouettes. Both cuts are intentionally built from premium, 100% rigid cotton denim that rejects immediate stretch, opting instead to soften and develop unique character over time.

The Extra Baggy Jean serves as a direct nod to the vintage men’s Gap fits that Bieber has long sourced from thrift stores. It utilizes a structured, high-waisted rise to lift the silhouette, grounding the oversized leg with a tailored waist that fits true-to-size. This style will be available both online and in select global flagship stores.

Conversely, the Low-Rise Loose Jean leans entirely into a nostalgic skater aesthetic, sitting deliberately low on the hips to create a pooled, floor-skimming hemline. Marketed as a gap.com online exclusive, early design reviews indicate that the lower waist cut runs small, making a strong case for sizing up to achieve that desired slouchy hang.

The High-Low Styling Philosophy
What makes “The Hailey Jean” work is its versatility within a contemporary wardrobe. Bieber’s style philosophy has always centered around the concept of borrowing from the boys while keeping the final look inherently sharp.
To translate the campaign’s mood—originally shot by legendary photographer Mario Sorrenti—into everyday streetwear, the focus remains on modern proportions. Balancing the wide, heavy silhouette of the denim requires a tight, minimal base, such as a cropped black tank or a ribbed baby tee. Layering a crisp, oversized white button-down shirt or a heavy leather bomber jacket provides structure without sacrificing comfort. Finally, the pooling hems are best elevated with strappy high-heeled sandals or a pointed-toe kitten heel to inject a sharp, feminine contrast to the slouchy denim.
