The Bright Side of Design: The Designers’ Holiday Bazaar Expands Nationwide

By Cedie Lazaro

For over a decade, discerning shoppers and culture champions have circled one event on their festive calendars: the Designers’ Holiday Bazaar (DHB). Founded by Beatriz Zobel Jr. and Sofia Zobel-Elizalde, what began as a curated Christmas market has blossomed into a premier annual tradition celebrating the very best of Filipino craftsmanship.

This year, marks a major milestone. For its 13th edition, DHB is breaking geographic boundaries with an ambitious multi-city expansion, carrying its curated magic to new communities across the Philippines.

Radiating ‘Sinag’

The theme for this year’s bazaar is “Sinag” (Ray of Light). It is a fitting descriptor for an event that illuminates both the depth of Filipino heritage and the brilliance of emerging local talent. Moving far beyond standard retail, DHB serves as a dynamic platform where fashion, food, home accents, wellness, and lifestyle products intersect.

“DHB has always been rooted in the belief that Filipino creativity deserves to be seen, celebrated, and supported,” says curator and co-founder Bea Zobel Jr. “As we grow into more communities this year, we hope to create even more opportunities for local artisans and entrepreneurs to thrive. Every purchase made at DHB helps sustain small businesses and support the next generation of creative talent.”

A Three-City Tour of Excellence

To bring this vision to life, the bazaar is setting up its highly anticipated marketplace in three key cultural hubs:

  • Ayala Malls Abreeza, Davao City (September 3–6)
Making its grand Southern debut, this leg bridges regional artistry with cosmopolitan flair. Expect a beautiful exploration of Mindanaoan silhouettes, local weaves, and tropical home decor tailored for modern living.
  • TriNoma, Quezon City (October 14–18)
This stop captures a fresh wave of urban creativity. The curation highlights the intersection of Quezon City’s dynamic young visionaries and its deep Filipino-Chinese heritage, featuring a refined mix of local streetwear, eco-conscious goods, and artisanal culinary finds.
  • Glorietta and Ayala Museum, Makati City (November 27–December 6)
The grand finale. In celebration of the Ayala Foundation’s historic 65th anniversary, this flagship exhibition redefines Filipino excellence for the global stage. It promises a spectacular fusion of high-end style and profound community impact.

Retail with a Soul

What truly elevates DHB from a premium market to a cultural phenomenon is its unwavering commitment to advocacy. For more than ten years, the bazaar has proven that commerce can drive community transformation.

Through its long-standing partnership with the Ayala Foundation, DHB funds a vital scholarship program that supports students from junior high school all the way through college graduation. To date, the program has proudly walked eight college graduates across the stage since 2024, with 18 current scholars steadily pursuing their degrees.

Simultaneously, the event continues to champion the arts through the STEPS Scholarship Foundation. This initiative has nurtured over 58 young classical dancers from Bauan, Batangas, and Manila, guiding them toward careers with prestigious global and local companies like the American Ballet Theater, Alberta Ballet, and Ballet Manila.

“One of the most rewarding things about DHB is seeing how many lives are touched through this platform,” reflects Sofia Zobel-Elizalde, curator and co-founder. “When people choose to shop local, they are contributing to a larger community of makers, families, and beneficiaries.”

A Sensory Festive Celebration

Visitors can expect a fully immersive experience that engages all five senses. Venues will be transformed by custom-curated holiday playlists playing softly in the background, punctuated by live cultural performances. From the ethereal harmonies of choral groups bringing traditional Filipino carols to life, to classical ballet vignettes and live sets by local musical virtuosos, the atmosphere will feel like an absolute celebration.

The seamless, modern experience is made possible by the country’s top digital and financial institutions. Globe ensures high-speed connectivity for smooth operations, GCash serves as the primary digital gateway via the secure QRPH platform, and BPI provides trusted financial flexibility as the premier credit card partner.

Final Thoughts

The Designers’ Holiday Bazaar remains a powerful catalyst for change—uplifting artisans, safeguarding heritage, and inspiring future generations. Whether you are searching for the perfect heirloom gift, discovering your next favorite homegrown brand, or simply looking to immerse yourself in the holiday spirit, DHB is the definitive place to shop with profound purpose this season.
