Chinese New Year is today, and TikTok is glowing red with celebration. But beyond the lanterns and silk outfits, “going Chinese” has become one of the chicest wellness trends on the app. Creators are embracing Chinese beauty and lifestyle habits not as fleeting hacks, but as aesthetic, grounding rituals rooted in balance and intention.
At the heart of the movement is the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which emphasizes harmony within the body and alignment with the seasons—a softer, slower approach that feels especially appealing in today’s burnout culture.
Here are four habits dominating our FYP.
Drinking Warm Lemon Water in the Morning
Sipping warm lemon water upon waking is believed to gently support digestion and circulation. The ritual sets a calm, intentional tone before the rush of the day begins.

Herbal-Inspired Skincare
C-beauty routines focus on fewer, barrier-strengthening products rather than complicated multi-step regimens. Traditional ingredients like ginseng and pearl are prized for promoting clear, luminous skin.
Living and Eating Seasonally
Meals and daily habits are adjusted to match the season’s energy, from warming soups in winter to lighter foods in spring. This rhythm-based approach encourages balance instead of year-round hustle.

Gua Sha and Facial Massage
Daily gua sha and gentle facial massage are said to boost circulation and reduce puffiness naturally. The slow, repetitive strokes double as self-care, turning skincare into a calming ritual rather than a rushed routine.

As Chinese New Year ushers in a fresh start, it’s no surprise that these rituals are gaining traction. They’re visually beautiful, culturally rich, and refreshingly simple.
