The Story Behind BINI’s Coachella Outfits

By Red Dimaandal-Escamillas

BINI’s Coachella debut wasn’t just a performance—it was a full 45-minute showcase of Filipino creativity on a global stage. Every look, every texture, and every transition carried a sense of intention, grounding their set in culture while matching the scale of one of the world’s biggest festivals. It was fashion as storytelling, and BINI made sure the message was clear: Filipino pride belongs front and center.

From the opening beat to the final bow, the group moved through distinct visual identities that felt both rooted and modern. Their outfits didn’t just complement the performance—they elevated it, turning each number into a visual chapter that celebrated heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation.

The gold warrior moment was all about power and identity.
BINI opened in striking gold ensembles designed by Marian Zara in collaboration with Job Dacon, drawing from traditional Filipino elements and instantly commanding attention. The looks balanced armor-like structure with intricate, hand-finished details, giving them both strength and elegance on stage. It set the tone for the entire performance—bold, unapologetic, and deeply connected to their roots.

Their transformation into ocean sirens brought fluidity to the stage.
Mid-performance, BINI shifted into flowing teal-blue outfits that moved effortlessly with every step and turn. The pieces featured wave-like textures and soft draping, creating a contrast to the structured opening look. It was a visual reset that highlighted their versatility while keeping the storytelling cohesive.

The dancers’ looks carried just as much cultural detail.
Behind the scenes, equal attention was given to the dancers, whose outfits incorporated materials like lambat, uling-inspired tones, coconut elements, and mother-of-pearl buttons. These textures added depth and authenticity, tying the entire stage picture together. The result was a fully realized world where every performer contributed to the narrative of Filipino artistry.
