The Timeless Charm of the Burberry Check Scarf

By Dara Clariza Evangelista

There’s something about scarves that instantly feels like the holidays. Maybe it’s all the Hallmark movies where people fall in love while wrapped in oversized knits, or maybe it’s just the simple comfort of bundling up when the air finally gets cooler. Either way, scarves have a quiet magic to them, and Burberry’s iconic Check scarf has always been one of those pieces that carries warmth in more ways than one.

This season, Burberry celebrates that feeling through a new portrait series featuring Olivia Colman, Amelia Gray, Liu Wen, Lucky Blue Smith, Mona Tougaard, and Tyson Beckford. The photos highlight how one classic piece can look completely different depending on who’s wearing it, soft on some, bold on others, but always personal.

What makes the scarf so special goes back to how it’s made. Woven in a family-owned Scottish mill dating back to 1797, each cashmere scarf is created on traditional looms and brushed with natural teasels to achieve its signature softness.

The mill has worked with Burberry for more than 125 years, carrying the Check into different eras while keeping its craftsmanship intact.

Around the world, Burberry has also created Scarf Bars, warm, curated spaces where their soft accessories are displayed like little pieces of heritage. From London and New York to Seoul and Tokyo, each location offers a quiet moment to explore different textures and colors, including more than 30 shades of the Burberry Check.

Some scarves can even be monogrammed with initials or small icons, turning a familiar classic into something that feels uniquely yours.
