The way Filipinos plan weddings is changing. Beyond finding the perfect venue or dress, more couples are choosing suppliers whose work reflects craftsmanship, individuality, and a sense of place. Local businesses are increasingly becoming the first choice rather than the alternative.
That shift was reflected at the second DTI Bagong Pilipinas Wedding Fair, held at SMX Aura Premier Convention Center in Taguig. The initiative was spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry under the leadership of DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque and Assistant Secretary Nylah Bautista, head of the Competitiveness and Innovation Group, with the goal of giving Filipino entrepreneurs a stronger platform within the country’s growing wedding and events industry.

Over three days, more than 100 Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) brought nearly every aspect of wedding planning under one roof. Visitors browsed bridal gowns and formalwear, met event stylists and florists, sampled catering menus, spoke with photographers and videographers, explored honeymoon packages, and discovered invitation designers, musicians, and event production teams.

For couples, the fair offered the chance to compare ideas, meet suppliers face-to-face, and discover businesses they may not have encountered otherwise. For participating brands, it opened the door to new clients while putting Filipino craftsmanship and creativity front and center.

Beyond the wedding showcase, the event also introduced entrepreneurs to programs designed to help their businesses grow. Among them were the DTI B2B Marketplace, a free digital platform that connects local suppliers with wholesale buyers in the Philippines and abroad, and Malikhaing Pinoy, an e-commerce platform that gives Filipino creative professionals another avenue to promote their work and services.

As the fair concluded its second edition, one thing was clear: the local wedding industry continues to evolve. Behind every gown, bouquet, table setting, and photograph is a growing community of Filipino entrepreneurs whose work is helping shape how modern celebrations are planned and remembered.
