In the bustling halls of Megatrade 1 to 3 at SM Megamall, style met substance at the DTI Bagong Pilipinas National Exporters’ Fair 2026. Behind every beautifully structured garment, artisanal food delicacy, and hand-woven accessory was a story not just of Filipino design, but of resilience, community, and radical empowerment.

As a proud media partner of this year’s landmark event, Stylish Magazine walked the floor to sit down with the hands and minds crafting the future of Philippine exports. The consensus across every booth was clear: immense gratitude for a platform that elevates local craftsmanship onto the global stage.

Fashion with a Soul: Our Textiles, Our Pride
At the center of the fair’s fashion and lifestyle sector was a bold celebration of indigenous and locally sourced textiles. From intricate Inabel and Yakan weaves to contemporary eco-fabrics, Philippine fashion is proving that heritage and high style go hand-in-hand.
For the merchants present, showcased under the banner of Philippine export readiness, using homegrown materials isn’t merely a design choice—it is a statement of identity.
“To wear local is to honor the hands that made it,” shared one brand founder. “When international buyers see our textiles, they aren’t just looking at fabric; they are looking at generations of Filipino artistry brought into modern fashion.”

The Hands Behind the Craft: Inclusion and Community First
Beyond the aesthetics lies the true heart of these local brands: the people. Speaking with the artisans and entrepreneurs revealed that many of these thriving businesses are powered by grassroots communities across the provinces.
A significant number of participating brands proudly employ and uplift marginalized groups, including:
- Women and Mothers: Providing sustainable work-from-home or community workshop opportunities that allow financial independence while supporting their families.
- Persons with Disabilities (PWDs): Creating accessible, skill-based craft jobs in intricate beadwork, sewing, and packaging where talent takes center stage.
- Senior Citizens: Honoring the lifelong mastery of elder artisans who pass down sacred weaving and crafting traditions to younger generations.

These enterprises do far more than sell products—they generate dignity, create stable livelihoods, and preserve local traditions that might otherwise be forgotten.
The DTI Catalyst: From Community Workshops to the World Stage
Starting a local brand manually—stitching garments one by one or crafting small-batch artisanal foods—is a journey filled with steep hurdles. For many of the makers we interviewed, the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has been a vital bridge.
Through mentorship, export-readiness training, and direct trade matching, DTI has helped turn passion projects into global-ready enterprises. Being recognized and given a stage at the National Exporters’ Fair signifies a turning point for these small businesses: proof that local brands belong in the global spotlight.
The Future is Proudly Local
As the five-day fair wrapped up, one takeaway stood out above the rest: the future of luxury and style lies in purpose. When you support a Filipino brand that honors its roots, you aren’t just buying clothing or food—you are investing in a artisan’s family, empowering a community, and carrying a piece of Philippine pride wherever you go.
At Stylish Magazine, we remain committed to telling these stories, celebrating our local talent, and championing the brands that weave our nation’s story into every thread.
