What I’m loving about the beauty trends recently are how they go to the root cause of the issue. We took it quite literally with my recent haircare sesh at Hestia K-Beauty Lounge, wherein we delved into the care of my locks from the roots with the Korean Scalp Treatment before I had my haircut by a Korean celebrity hairstylist.

First things first: scalp analysis. I tried the scalp treatment a couple of years back from another local salon, but what I appreciate about how Hestia does it is the further explanation of what’s going on with my scalp. Turned out, I have a pretty dry and oily scalp, which is haircare talk for a combination skin. I was told I still had healthy hair growth, as I still had two hair strands growing per hair follicle, which was good. But I still have to look out for starting hair loss, which can be taken care of with regular hair scalp treatment, nutrition and thorough haircare.

I was then led to a private spa-like room for the scalp treatment proper. I was loving the relaxing music and overall spa vibes in this room, as I looked forward to an hour of not just scalp loving, but facial sesh.

The scalp care expert was so friendly and informative, explaining me every step of the session, and how the organic Korean haircare products were nice for my hair and scalp. The staff were trained by Korean haircare experts, so I was assured to enjoy top-tier scalp massage with topnotch organic Korean haircare products.

The scrubbing of dandruff and shampooing were, of course, super relaxing with the gentle approach. The attendant explained though that thorough steps are being done for those who have more serious scalp problems.
Honestly, I was not expecting a facial sesh and facial massage for this treatment, as other scalp treatments from two years ago only focused on scalp care, and they were usually done sitting at the salon chair itself. So having this scalp care treatment lying down in a spa-like room and with a very long scalp massage and facial massage indeed made Hestia’s a bar better than the rest of those by other salons.

I experienced the usual facial route: cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, facial massage, mask application, and moisturizing.

This combination right here of enjoying the face mask as my hair was being washed for quite some time was particularly rejuvenating, too.
After an hour of scalp care treatment, I was led to the salon chair to meet the famous Yang Chang-Soo, a Korean celebrity hairstylist in South Korea and China. He does the hair of some stars in there, and occasionally stays in Manila, Philippines for a couple of months to attend to his Filipino clientele. He’s the expert, so of course, I let him decide what haircut style I should get that he believed was perfect for my face shape.

He decided I should get some Korean layers, which honestly what I was thinking to have anyway because I had had straight cut for months.

Yang Chang-Soo was super nice as well, explaining to me even how to further take care of my hair. I got to enjoy delicious banana chips and warm tea during my haircut too, which was awesome.

And ta-da! Look at my layers that surely complemented the shape of my face. I thought I looked extra youthful compared to when I first entered Hestia K-Beauty Lounge. I loved how Yang Chang-Soo taught me the right way to comb and dry my hair so that I can get the same styling even when I do it myself.

After the haircut, I also tried the Korean manicure, which was let me just say, a lot gentler than the usual mani in the Philippines. It was explained to me that the Russian-style of manicure is the go-to here in our country, which is a little harsh compared to the Korean-style.

Organic nailcare products were used to, as well as K-Beauty techniques for nails. They made me try the dainty designs for nail stickers– a little heart and a little ribbon— and I loved ’em! So pretty!
The verdict: It’s not everyday that you get to experience facial care with massage within a scalp care treatment from a salon, so this makes for a new game in spa experience, tbh. Like if you’re looking to feel rejuvenated but you want to try something new aside from the usual spa massage sesh, this scalp care system by Hestia is a must-try. And a haircut by a Korean celebrity hairstylist to boot? That’s just K-Beauty at its finest. Plus, the Korean manicure is I think the safest way to take care of your nails.
