There’s a reason big stars like Jay-Z and Serena Williams have invested in Indonesian brand Kenangan Coffee.
Founded in 2017, Kenangan Coffee saw a rapid growth with more than 900 stores worldwide currently.
“Obviously, we were very proud of that special moment when Jay-Z and Serena Williams invested in us back in 2019. A lot of Hollywood stars see Southeast Asia as the next China when it comes to business. And regionally, we were chosen because of our fast growth. Our special ingredient is available only in Indonesia, so they are really protective of our brand Kenangan Coffee,” co-founder and CEO Edward Tirtanata told STYLISH in an interview during their press launch event.
Kenangan Coffee is renowned for its premium locally sourced beans and its signature Kenangan Latte, a creamy and smoky drink with a distinct flavor from black aren, or palm sugar.
“Our palm sugar from Indonesia that’s grown from our palm trees is a lot healthier than the common white sugar. It has a caramelized taste too, with a little spookiness,” he added.
Along with the Kenangan Latte, the brand also caters a variety of expertly crafted beverages and an assortment of delicious pastries to complement each cup.
Edward explained why he chose the Philippines as their next investment stop.
“The Philippines has the best coffee culture after Singapore. The big Filipino population really, really loves coffee,” he said.
The much-anticipated opening was met with long queues of eager customers during the introduction of its first branch in Manila yesterday at L2, North Entertainment Mall of SM Mall of Asia.
Fredley Group of Companies (FGC), known for its diverse portfolio of high-quality international food and beverage brands like Macao Imperial Tea and Nabe, has brought the Kenangan Coffee to the local market. This partnership showcases FGC’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence, catering to the evolving preferences of Filipino customers. Kenangan offers Filipino coffee lovers an exciting new option to indulge in rich, quality coffee beverages at an affordable price.
Though many of Kenangan Coffee’s stores are designed for grab-and-go convenience, the brand is set to expand its presence across the Philippines with plans to open more branches in SM East Ortigas, SM Megamall, SM Bicutan, SM Baguio and SM North EDSA, including flagship stores that will offer an elevated café experience.
“We are excited to welcome Kenangan Coffee to the Fredley Group family. This partnership reflects our commitment to providing high-quality, diverse dining experiences to the Filipino market,” shared Avin Ong, Founder & CEO of Fredley Group of Companies. “We believe Kenangan Coffee’s unique flavors will resonate with local coffee lovers, and we’re thrilled to be part of its growth in the country.”
“We’re delighted to partner with Fredley Group of Companies, a brand known for its quality and customer satisfaction. We’re confident that Filipinos will fall in love with the distinct taste of Kenangan Coffee, and we’re eager to expand our presence here,” Edward concluded.
